Community policing is a philosophy that promotes organizational strategies, which support the systematic use of partnerships and problem-solving techniques, to proactively address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime.

The purpose of the Community Policing Bureau is to provide an established and consistent approach to on-going quality of life problems and public safety concerns. The Community Policing Bureau includes the following components:
Utilized to make contact with business owners and citizens, serving to identify on-going concerns and problems, amassing vital information to aid in providing positive results
Acts to identify youth related problems that occur both on and off school grounds and to work with parents and faculty to come to a viable and amenable resolution
Acts to quickly and decisively address emerging crime trends through the use of established community policing philosophies and data-driven crime analyses
Acts as a liaison between the Police and the City’s elderly population. Furthermore, help establish programs to educate the elderly on recent crime trends and how to prevent victimization
